For my recent two procedures, I wasn't thoroughly briefed on risks. I was given an informed consent form and told to sign. I was asked if I have questions. I think the doctor should verbally state risks and benefits before handing me the consent.

Dr Regan is a godsend to patients with interstitial cystitis (IC) since there are so few urologists who take it seriously. There is no cure for IC, yet Dr Regan fully appreciates that the symptoms of an IC flare-up are identical to symptoms of UTIs. It was sheer pleasure to hear her perceptive questions and advice.
