Bio

Mark W. Scanlan, M.D. joined Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists in 2005. He is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with a specialty interest in trauma/fracture surgery and surgery of the hand, wrist and elbow.

After graduating with honors from Duke University, Dr. Scanlan obtained his medical degree from Columbia University where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He then completed a year of general surgical training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City followed by 4 years of orthopaedic residency training at the New York Orthopaedic Hospital of Columbia University. Dr. Scanlan then went on to complete a year of fellowship training in surgery of the hand, wrist and elbow at the Hospital for Joint Diseases/New York University Medical School. Following this he traveled briefly to Tampa, Florida to train in orthopaedic trauma surgery.

Dr. Scanlan is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is an attending surgeon and clinical instructor at Yale New Haven Hospital/ Yale University School of Medicine and the Hospital of Saint Rapheal in New Haven, CT.

Dr. Scanlan has published book chapters and scientific literature in the hand and trauma surgery literature. His areas of interest include trauma/fracture care of the upper and lower extremities and surgery of the hand, wrist and elbow. He lives with his wife and three children in Branford, CT.
