Emergency Services Locations

Hartford HealthCare emergency locations are fully staffed with physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, as well as a staff of nurses and technicians specializing in emergency medicine, trauma, and critical care. 

All physicians are Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and/or Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

Backus Hospital ED

Backus Hospital

Backus Hospital includes a not-for-profit, 213-bed hospital in Norwich and numerous off-site locations, including several health centers and the Backus Outpatient Care Center. Two emergency rooms are available in Norwich and Plainfield.
CHH ED

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, located in Torrington, CT, is a 109-plus bed, acute care facility serving the regional health care needs of thirty towns in northwest Connecticut. Two emergency rooms are available in Torrington and Winsted.
Hartford Hospital ED

Hartford Hospital

The Hospital of Central Connecticut (THOCC) is a 414-bed, 32-bassinet, acute-care community teaching hospital with campuses in New Britain and Southington.

MidState Medical Center

MidState Medical Center is a 156-bed acute care hospital located in Meriden, Connecticut, with satellite offices in Cheshire, Wallingford and Southington.
St. Vincent's ED

St. Vincent's Medical Center

St. Vincent’s is a 520-bed Level II Trauma Center located in Bridgeport, CT. It is a regional referral center providing advanced cardiology and stroke care.

We facilitate the transfer of trauma patients and other individuals with emergency medical conditions 24 hours a day. Non-emergency transfers are managed on a case-by-case basis.
