Hartford HealthCare Named to Nation’s ‘Great Heart Programs’
August 06, 2024
Hartford HealthCare (HHC) has been named to the Becker’s Hospital Review list of “Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Heart Programs.” This recognition highlights HHC’s commitment to delivering exceptional heart and vascular care through its Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI).
The facilities featured on the list are renowned for superior heart and vascular care. The list celebrates programs that deliver high-quality outcomes, build skilled teams of expert caregivers and make key research discoveries in heart care.
HVI was cited for being “a national leader in heart disease prevention, treatment, surgery and research, offering coordinated, evidence-based care.” The review commended HHC for its comprehensive range of services including access to board-certified cardiologists in outpatient settings, emergency services via LIFE STAR and care provided across its seven hospitals, including Hartford Hospital which is a tertiary-care level teaching hospital.
To compile the list, the Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team assessed rankings and awards from reputable organizations such as U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CMS, The Leapfrog Group and more. Nominations are also accepted.
The announcement enhances Hartford Hospital’s designation as a Mitral Valve Repair Reference Center from the American Heart Association and Mitral Foundation for the fourth year in a row. This identifies top-rated facilities with proven performance for patients and physicians.
“We pride ourselves on putting our patients at the center of everything we do. It gives us great satisfaction to be recognized year after year as a destination center for mitral valve surgery and other cardiac procedures,” said Sabet Hashim, MD, HVI co-physician in chief and chair of cardiac surgery.
Additionally, Healthgrades recognized HVI at Hartford Hospital as one of America’s best hospitals for cardiac surgery, coronary intervention and cardiac care for 2024.
