CHH Adds 3 Neurologists, Physician Assistant

The Hartford HealthCare Ayer Neuroscience Institute at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) has greatly increased access to neurology services for patients with the addition of three neurologists and a physician assistant in the Medical Office Building CHH, 538 Litchfield Street, Suite 104 in Torrington.
Neurologists Dr. Hugh Cahill, Dr. Lucas Meira-Benchaya and Dr. Sarah Meira-Benchaya, as well as physician assistant Sabra Becker, are now accepting patients.

Hartford HealthCare Ayer Neuroscience Institute at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital include neurological evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system. Our neurologists employ sophisticated technology to diagnose and treat conditions that include movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, headache, stroke, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, peripheral neuropathy and others.
Dr. Hugh Cahill is a graduate of College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., and attended graduate school at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. He received his medical degree from Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., and completed his internship and residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Cahill is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and specializes in the treatment of strokes, Multiple Sclerosis and headache.
Dr. Lucas Meira-Benchaya is a graduate of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saude Publica in Salvador, Brazil. He completed a residency in Neurology at Hospital das Clinicas da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirao Preto da Universidade de Sao Paulo in Ribeirao Preto, a residency in Neurology at Iramande da Santa Casa de Misericordia de Sao Paulo in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and a residency in neurology at University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington. He completed a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at University of Pittsburg. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Meira-Benchaya also has office hours at 85 Seymour Street, Suite 815, Hartford, CT.
Dr. Sarah Meira-Benchaya is a graduate of Universidade Luterana do Brasil in Canoas, Brazil. She completed residencies in Neurology at Santa Casa DeMisericordia in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Hospital das Clinicas da Faculdade de Medicina in Ribeirao Proto, Brazil, and University of Connecticut Medical School in Farmington, CT. Dr. Meira-Benchaya completed her fellowship in Neurophysiology at Hospital das Clinicas da Faculdade de Medicina as well as a fellowship in Epilepsy at University of Pittsburgh. She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Meira-Benchaya also has office hours at 85 Seymour Street, Suite 815, Hartford, CT.
Sabra Becker has been a part of the neurology practice for the past four years and has recently joined the HHC Neuroscience Institute. She is a graduate of Springfield College. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and a member of the Connecticut Academy of Physician Assistants.
