Questions? Concerns?
From the moment you become a patient, the Ayer Neuroscience Institute offers you, your family and your caregivers any needed support through a wide range of patient- and family-oriented services.
We understand that every patient journey is unique. Making you comfortable with your care plan is our primary goal.
Please ask us if we can help you or your family in any way.
Ayer Support Includes:
- Behavioral Health Counseling: A new diagnosis may come with added stress and anxiety. We have behavioral health specialists on-site to help you and your family cope every step of the way. We offer social workers and health psychologists in partnership with the Hartford HealthCare Behavioral Health Network and Institute of Living.
- Integrative Medicine: Integrative medicine, also called complementary therapy, doesn't treat your condition, but it can improve your quality of life during treatment. Some of the integrative medicine techniques offered include acupuncture, massage therapy, nutrition counseling, yoga, and reiki.
- New Patient Support: Each center has its own process for new patients, but all are focused on helping you along your journey. You can expect to fill out a few surveys prior to your first appointment that will help in developing your care.
- Rehabilitation: The Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network plays a vital role in the recovery of patients with neurological conditions and movement disorders. Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) can evaluate and treat difficulties affecting communication, such as problems with language, cognition, speech, and voice.
- Classes and Support Groups: We offer several free classes every month to educate patients on the latest advances in minimally-invasive and robotic assisted procedures such as deep brain stimulation so that you feel knowledgeable before undergoing treatment.
