Colleague’s book helps kids
July 11, 2025
Beyond her role supporting patients in Prospect, Keisha Figueiredo is inspiring a younger audience with her debut children’s book about inclusion and friendship.
Titled Different Like Me, the story follows a joyful group of kids who form a band and, along the way, celebrate their differences and show how empathy and connection truly shine.
Her family’s journey inspired Figueiredo to write the book. Two of her children were diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, news she saw as part of what made them special.
“It wasn’t something terrible,” she says. “They learned to work through it and never let it stop them from enjoying life with their friends.”
Figueiredo joined the Prospect team as a patient service coordinator about a year ago, just as she was finalizing the book, which features illustrations she created with artificial intelligence tools.
“The writing process was fun! I discovered so much about what I was truly capable of,” she says.
Different Like Me is available on Amazon and Figueiredo hopes it inspires others to chase their creative goals.
“If you have something good you want to do, be or have — go for it,” she says. “Don’t tell yourself no.”
