The University of Connecticut/Hartford Hospital Neurovascular Fellowship is an ACGME-accredited, one-year program emphasizing clinical experience.
Primarily based at Hartford Hospital, with a Joint Commission-certified comprehensive stroke center in a hospital with a national reputation for clinical excellence, the fellowship includes rotations at the University of Connecticut Health Center, an academic facility that excels in teaching, research and clinical care.
Fellows are exposed to the full range of emergency, inpatient and outpatient management of ischemic and/or hemorrhagic strokes. Research experience at either Hartford Hospital (clinical) or UConn Health Center (laboratory) can be elected.
Neurovascular fellows collaborate with neurology residents, faculty, advanced practice providers, and stroke team in the care of patients with stroke and cerebrovascular disease at Hartford Hospital and UConn Health Center. Neurovascular teaching takes place both at the bedside during daily stroke rounds and through didactic sessions. In addition, simulation training, integration in quality improvement, operations, and leadership experience skills are gained through training.
