After surgery, you will be cared for by on an inpatient unit staffed by a collaborative team of clinicians who have advanced training in neurological conditions. As you recover, you will be supported by a full range of rehabilitation services, including physical, occupational and speech therapy, neuropsychological, behavioral healthcare, and recovery support. All of these efforts are focused on returning you to your life and the activities you enjoy.
Neurosurgery Procedures:
- Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). DBS involves implanting electrodes in the brain that connect to a pacemaker-like battery implanted in the chest. Electrical impulses are sent from the battery to stimulate a targeted area in the brain, altering activity there and stopping unwanted movement.
- Endoscopic hematoma evacuation. When a blood vessel in the brain is damaged, this procedure helps us remove the hematoma through a small incision using an endoscope.
- Endovascular surgery. Minimally invasive surgical procedures to treat blood vessel complications.
- Extracranial–Intracranial Bypass. This surgical procedure helps increase cerebral blood flow by connecting a branch of the external carotid artery to a branch of the internal carotid artery.
- High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. This non-invasive procedure for patients with essential tremor and Parkinson's disease is ideal for patients that have not responded optimally to medications, and are either not candidates for, or fearful of, undergoing surgery.
- Neuroablation. Through this minimally invasive procedure, we address pain by destroying the nerve constantly firing off pain signals.
- Neuro-interventional Radiology. Using catheters and radiology, we diagnose and treat various neurological conditions and diseases. These procedures are usually considered minimally invasive.
- Peripheral nerve and plexus surgery. These nerves can cause pain and loss of sensation and function in the shoulder, arm and hand. Neurosurgeons can repair or reconnect injured nerves to help restore function and feeling.
- Pipeline procedure. After an aneurysm affects blood flow, we can insert a mesh stent called a Pipeline Embolization Device to restore normal blood flow to the area.
- Pituitary tumor surgery. While most tumors on the pituitary gland are benign, or non-cancerous, surgery is the primary recommended treatment.
- Skull base procedures. The skull base sits behind the eyes and nose and we offer a highly-specialized approach to their diagnosis and treatment.

- Stereotactic radiosurgery. This radiation therapy treats small tumors of the brain by delivering precisely targeted radiation. Due to the precision, fewer treatments are needed, which helps preserve healthy tissue.
