Every stroke is unique, so this expertise and our access to specialists in other fields as part of the Ayer Neuroscience Institute makes us uniquely capable of helping a wide range of patients, and provide the most efficient and aggressive care plans to return them to their lives as quickly and fully as possible.

Our specialists meet weekly for Stroke Council meetings, which draw together a variety of Ayer specialists to review patient cases and determine the best possible course of treatment.

Conditions We Treat

The conditions we treat include:

• Acute ischemic stroke, both thrombolysis intravenous and intra-arterial
• Aneurysm
• Arteriovenous malformations (AVM)
• Atypical stroke
• Cavernomas, a cluster of abnormal blood vessels usually found in the brain and spinal cord
• Cranial arterial stenosis, a severe narrowing of an artery in the skull
• Embolic stroke
• Intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhage
• Stroke
• Transient ischemic attack (TIA)
• Hemorrhagic stroke

You must B.E.F.A.S.T

Stroke is an emergency. Think of the following cues to know if the person is having a stroke.

B: Watch for sudden loss of Balance.

E: Check for vision loss in the Eyes.

F: Does one side of the Face droop? Ask the person to smile.

A: Is one Arm weak or numb?

S: Is Speech slurred? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. Is it correct?

T: Time is important. If the person has any of the above symptoms, call 911 or get to a hospital immediately.
