Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the most widely used treatment for sleep apnea caused by blocked airflow in the throat.
If you are prescribed a CPAP machine, you will meet with a sleep physician, respiratory therapist and medical equipment specialist to choose a CPAP mask that is the most comfortable and appropriate. We also offer training on how to correctly use the CPAP machine.
We will monitor your progress with your CPAP therapy and are always available for questions.
How CPAP Works
CPAP is treatment provided by a machine worn at night or during times of sleep. A CPAP machine increases air pressure in the throat, keeping tissues in the airway from collapsing when a person inhales.
The CPAP machine delivers air through a mask that fits over the nose and mouth, just the nose or through a nasal pillow that only covers the openings of the nose.
