Hartford HealthCare Senior Services Presents 13 Legacy Awards to Employees

Thirteen Hartford HealthCare Senior Services employees who have distinguished themselves through their dedication and work ethic were honored at the Legacy Awards Celebration held May 17 at Hawk’s Landing Country Club. Honorees received either the Trish Walden Legacy Award – Excellence in Resident-Centered Care or the Clarence J. Silvia Legacy Award – Leadership Behaviors in Action.

The Excellence in Resident-Centered Care Legacy Award, named after Trish Walden, former vice president of Hartford HealthCare Senior Services (HHCSS), recognizes HHCSS employees who embody the mission of resident-centered care. Nominees do not need to be direct caregivers, but they should know what is important to residents – and they routinely do whatever they can to see that residents feel fulfilled physically, spiritually and emotionally.

The Leadership Behaviors in Action Award, named in honor of Clarence J. Silvia, former president of The Hospital of Central Connecticut, recognizes HHCSS employees with a strong work ethic and a belief in this mission of serving seniors. In their interactions, they exhibit Hartford HealthCare’s 10 leadership behaviors.

Those receiving the Trish Walden Legacy Award for Excellence in Resident-Centered Care were: Kate Rabinoff, resident service coordinator, Arbor Rose in New Britain; Awa Jeng, resident care attendant, Cedar Mountain Commons in Newington; Pam Brown, social worker, Jefferson House in Newington; Lori Lyons, physical therapist, Jerome Home in New Britain; Anisah Gaffar, certified nursing assistant, Mulberry Gardens of Southington; Carol Volpe, activities director, The Orchards at Southington; and Cathy Chattelle, physical therapist, Southington Care Center.

Those who received the Clarence J. Silvia Legacy Award – Leadership Behaviors in Action awards were: Lou Roca, director of dining services, Cedar Mountain Commons; Janele McAdams, nurse educator, Jefferson House; Norm Aldrich, building services director, Jerome Home; Lorraine Belas, waitstaff, Mulberry Gardens; Andrea Hallock, environmental services aide, The Orchards at Southington; and Richard Poitras, cook, Southington Care Center.

And finally, be kind to each other,” said Sharon Robinson RN, BSN, MHA, regional director of Skilled Nursing Facilities Operations, Hartford HealthCare Senior Services.
