Open-Heart Surgery For Women
May 27, 2016
Sharon Corlette, 68, of Plainville worked out three times a week and appeared to be in excellent health until she started feeling a funny sensation around the heart shortly after starting her exercise regimen. Other symptoms, such as profuse sweating, pointed toward a potentially serious problem. After a referral to The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s Women’s Heart Wellness Center, tests revealed she had four blockages in her heart. Her cardiologist, Dr. Heather Swales, says recognizing the symptoms can be a life-saver. Five days after open-heart surgery, Corlette returned home. Two weeks after the surgery, Corlette was driving.
