Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Presents Navigating the ‘What Ifs’ During the Golden Years
May 28, 2019
They might be called the “golden years,” but aging doesn’t always mean days spent hitting the links or volunteering at the local library. Because we know life is filled with the unexpected, it’s good to prepare for housing and other real-life situations in retirement as you might plan for your financial security. For example, what if you or a loved one require added care at home or need to relocate to a senior housing facility? The process can seem daunting, but help is available.
The Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and Hartford HealthCare at Home are offering a free talk called “Navigating the ‘What Ifs’ During Your Golden Years” on Thursday, June 20, 2019, from 12-1 p.m., at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, 780 Litchfield St., Torrington.
“There are so many options in homecare – independent housing or assisted living, medical care facilities – that it can be confusing for people how to start the search,” said Jennifer Labrie, BA, HS-BCP, CDP, resource coordinator with the Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging at Charlotte Hungerford.
“If a healthcare concern crops up, there might not be time for a thorough search even though you want to be careful and thoughtful when it’s your life or the life of someone you love. That’s why we encourage people to think and plan in advance,” added Tamara Walker, LPN, transitional care coordinator with Hartford HealthCare at Home.
The talk will cover such topics as:
- What are the different levels of care available?
- How do you know what level of care you or your loved one needs?
- Are there funding sources and resources available to help cover the cost?
- What, if anything, does insurance cover?
Seating for the talk is limited and registration is required. To RSVP, call Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, 860.496.6240.
