Hartford HealthCare to Provide Health Services for UHart Students
February 13, 2020
Hartford HealthCare and the University of Hartford have announced a partnership for the health system to provide health services to students. Hartford HealthCare President and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Flaks was joined by University President Greg Woodwood and UHart alum and Hartford HealthCare staff member Latasha Raineault during halftime of the Hawks men’s basketball game against the University of Albany on Feb. 12 to make it official.
“We feel so strongly about being embedded in this community,” said Flaks. “This partnership speaks to the heart of our vision of being most trusted for personalized coordinated care.”
Under the agreement, Hartford HealthCare will operate the Student Health Center on campus and provide non-emergency after-hours care through a phone line staffed by registered nurses; provide orthopedists as team doctors for all teams; access to treatment and resources at Hartford HealthCare’s Bone & Joint Institute for sports enhancement services, sports nutrition, strength and conditioning training, and more. The agreement will also expand Hartford HealthCare’s commitment to UHart students in health science programs by providing more experiential learning opportunities.
“We are so excited to announce this partnership,” said Woodward. “It is already proving to be amazingly helpful. Students are receiving great service and attention.”
Raineault, who earned her undergraduate and master’s degree from UHart along with being a star on the track team, works as physical therapist and rehab site supervisor for the Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network.
“As a former student athlete at the University of Hartford and current employee of Hartford HealthCare, I could not be any more excited to see these two families come together,” Raineault said.
Hartford HealthCare has a similar partnership with Trinity College.
