HHC Earns Prestigious Award for Workplace Mental Health

May 22, 2025

Hartford HealthCare is proud to announce it has been awarded the 2025 Platinum Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health by Mental Health America (MHA)—the nation’s leading nonprofit dedicated to mental health advocacy, education, and research.

The Bell Seal is the nation’s leading workplace mental health certification, recognizing employers committed to creating mentally healthy environments. Hartford HealthCare joins an elite group of organizations nationwide to achieve this recognition, with only two in five employers meeting the certification standards.

“At Hartford HealthCare, our people are at the heart of everything we do,” said Rosemary Sheehan, Hartford HealthCare, Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer. “This recognition is more than an award — it’s a reflection of Our People Promise, which means we’re dedicated to making Hartford HealthCare a place where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.”

Essential to Hartford HealthCare’s culture of well-being are competitive benefits, programs and services to support the physical and emotional health of the workforce. These include a Peer Support Program and a Comprehensive Employee Assistance Program. Hartford HealthCare’s Well-Being Department manages these key programs and works to develop policies and evidence-based practices that promote workplace efficiency and safety, and support a resilient, fulfilled and engaged workforce.

“We’re proud of the resources we’ve built to support our teams, and the Bell Seal not only celebrates what we’re doing well — it also guides us in finding new ways to grow and improve,” Sheehan added.

To earn this certification, Hartford HealthCare underwent a comprehensive assessment of its policies and practices in four key areas: workplace culture, benefits, compliance, and wellness programs. The Platinum-level designation represents the highest standard of achievement.
