CHH Nationally Recognized for High-Quality Stroke Care

July 18, 2025

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement award for its commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability.

Get With The Guidelines® leverages the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association, ensuring patient care is aligned with the latest research- and evidence-based guidelines.

In addition to the Gold Plus Award, CHH has also been recognized with the American Heart Association’s Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite award for reducing the time between patient arrival and thrombolytic therapy, and Target: Type 2 Diabetes™ Honor Roll award for delivering up-to-date care for patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications from stroke.

“This recognition reflects the unwavering dedication of our clinical teams to deliver timely, evidence-based stroke care,” said Bimal Patel, president, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and executive vice president and chief operating officer, Hartford HealthCare. “We are proud to be part of a system that prioritizes continuous improvement and innovation, ensuring that every patient in our community receives the highest standard of care when it matters most.”

Each year, program participants qualify for the award by demonstrating how their organization has committed to providing quality care for stroke patients. In addition to following treatment guidelines, Get With The Guidelines participants also educate patients to help them manage their health and recovery at home.
