Hospitalist Services

The Hospitalist Services at Hartford HealthCare are dedicated to serving patients admitted to the hospital as well as providing consultative services to surgical patients.

HHC_HospitalistServices_BannerPractitioners of hospital medicine include physicians known as “hospitalists” and non-physician providers who engage in clinical care, teaching, research or leadership in the field of general hospital medicine. In addition to their core expertise managing the clinical problems of acutely ill, hospitalized patients, hospital medicine practitioners work to enhance the performance of hospitals and health care systems.

Our team provides the highest quality medical care for patients whose primary care physicians do not round at the hospital. Members of the hospital medical team are present in the hospital 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This structure ensures that all aspects of your care will be managed by an intensive staff physician during your stay in the hospital.

There are many benefits to hospitalist care:

  • Hospitalists are always available to monitor your progress and respond to any changes in your condition.
  • Under a hospitalist's care, you'll have more opportunities to speak with a medical professional regarding your treatment.
  • Studies have shown that hospitalist programs reduce the length of time a patient spends in the hospital.
  • Hospitalist care allows primary care physicians to spend more time with their patients in the office setting, while feeling assured that their patients are receiving the very best care in the hospital.
