A passion for music and a desire to help comfort hospital patients, staff and visitors inspired former patient Joe Cadena and his fellow musicians to hold the first Music from the Heart fundraising event. This past Valentine’s Day, it brought out more than 70 guests who braved a snowy night to support MidState Medical Center’s Music Program—and raised more than $3,500.
Sponsored by Four Points by Sheraton and Silver City Sound, this special event included seven musicians from MidState’s Music Program. Since 2006, nearly 20 local musicians have provided soothing music in various locations throughout the hospital, as well as for a variety of hospital events.
“The proceeds from this event will allow us to continue to provide the healing power of music to our patients, families and staff, who come to MidState each day as a patient, loved one or caregiver,” said Denise Jones-Gagne, program coordinator, Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at MidState Medical Center.
Through Hartford HealthCare Giving, Music from the Heart connects patients, families and caregivers to the healing power of music.
